Historically, a school playground originated in Germany as a result for a need of a place where children can both play and learn at the same time. The structures that are commonly made today are composed of steel and plastic materials. The sturdy kind of plastic ensures that accident do not often happen during playtime. Proper placing of equipments is also vital. Most ladders and sliders are placed in a location with an open space. It relates that during playtime, children could be hyperactive with their adrenalines flowing. Equipments are not recommended to be placed close together to minimize accidents and injuries.
It should be remembered that children are still children. A playground with lots of children will still have minor accidents and a supervising teacher or adult should always be present. To ensure that playing equipments are placed in their proper positions, there are engineers that can be hired to do the job. They also order the right kind of playground structures for the right kind of children. The number of children who will play in the said facility should also be considered.
